Urgent: Take Action Now to Ratify the ERA

TAKE ACTION letter from Sylvia Ramos, Chair, Feminist Caucus-HSNM:

The 112th Congress will soon be history and we need to call, email or tweet our Congressmen who have not yet signed on as co-sponsors of Senate Joint Resolution 39 and House Joint Resolution 47 that do away with the deadline for ratification of the ERA. So far, 17 Senators and 54 Representatives have joined as co-sponsors. Senator Tom Udall, Representative Ben Ray Lujan and Representative Steve Pearce have not yet done so. Now that the elections are over, they may be more willing to do the right thing by women, so it's a good time to ask. A lot of different national groups work to build sponsorships during the Lame Duck session and we need to be among those vying for their interest.

Below are sample phone scripts you may use to call or use as a template for an email. If you want to see some of the tweets Carolyn Cook of United for Equality has been sending, go to https://twitter.comU4ERA201539) Please help to take one more step toward making the ERA a reality, so our little girls and boys may grow up in a country where their opportunities and achievements will be based on their talents and work and not on their gender.
Thank you.
Sylvia

This is ______ (Your Name) ____________.    I live at ____ (Address or zip code) _________

These days it seems that the rights of corporations are more important and protected than the rights of women who comprise over half of the American population.
As you may know, House Joint Resolution 47 was introduced in the House by Congresswoman (now Senator-elect) Tammy Baldwin. The name of this resolution is Removing the Deadline for Ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.
Has the Representative signed on as co-sponsor yet? If not, I’d like to urge him to do so as soon as possible so that we can move forward to guarantee all women in this country equal protection under the law.
I will appreciate your conveying this message to Representative ______________.
Thank you very much for your attention and support.
